My experience with Proper Canna Naturals
For the last few years, I’ve struggled with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Sciatic pain, symptoms of Endometriosis, and an hormonal imbalance. But for the sake of this review, I’d like to focus on something I just recently experienced: a panic attack, coupled with symptoms of dehydration.
Now, I’m no stranger to the crippling symptoms of anxiety, but I’ve only had a handful of panic attacks in my whole life, and to me, they're on a whole new level.
For those who’ve never had a panic attack, let me explain how crippling and scary it can be...
My first panic attack took place right before I received Proper Canna Naturals CBD. It was late morning on the first day of my period.
This period started out like most of my periods: Intense cramps, back pain, nausea, brain fog, and poor digestion. However, as I went about my day, my pain increased and my stomach cramps quickly became severe.
Anytime I experienced intense pain, I reached for my CBD, but I was completely out at the time. I had nothing to help with my pain or even relax my nerves (I usually don’t keep pain relievers around).
Within seconds, my hands and legs became numb. I felt like my heart was beating out of my chest and the only thing I needed to do was go to the restroom. Side note: I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago, so when I have a bad IBS flare up, I tend to pass bile. Sorry for the graphic details…
Now, whenever I pass any amount of bile, my body feels complete KO’ed. In retrospect, it felt like the perfect storm: crippling period cramps, IBS flare up, and a panic attack all at once.
After using the restroom, my hands and feet started to tingle, and they even started to lock up on me, I couldn’t talk, my vision became blurry, I was hot and cold at the same time, and I felt like I was choking. I honestly thought I was going to die. The next thing I remember, I was being rushed to the hospital.
It took three nurses to calm me down. But once I was able to take deep breaths, my body started to relax. Other than being dehydrated and experiencing what they surmised was a panic attack, the physician said there wasn’t anything else wrong with me. After several hours and multiple tests that turned up next to nothing, I was sent home.
I remember thinking, “I didn’t make these symptoms up… Something is seriously wrong with me.” But, after a couple of days, I figured it was just a really bad first day of my period, along with dehydration.
The following week I received Proper Canna Naturals CBD. Assuming I wouldn’t experience another panic attack like that, I began testing out Proper Canna Naturals for better sleep and less pain. But during my three week experiment, I suffered four more pretty intense panic attacks, all within two weeks.
My first week on Proper Canna Naturals
My first impression of Proper Canna Naturals was amazing! Their product packaging was clean and professional and all of the tinctures prominently displayed the Certified USDA organic seal.
I received detailed information cards of all their products, along with a dosing chart of how much pet CBD to give to my beagle.
My first week I started with the following products:
- Dreamsicle, 1800mg Full Spectrum High Concentration Vanilla / Orange Flavor tincture
- Rocky Mountain Chill 600mg Muscle Gel
- 25mg Liquid CBD Softgels
I took 1ml of the Dreamsicle before bed each night, and rubbed the Rocky Mountain Chill Gel on my lower back and belly in the morning and at night. I only took the Liquid CBD Softgels during the day.
CBD Dreamsicle 1800mg Tincture
The Dreamsicle CBD Tincture didn’t help me fall asleep, but it did help me stay asleep for more than 3 hours straight (which is, sadly, a lot for me). My first night I was able to get a solid four hours of sleep, so that was nice.
Unfortunately, throughout my first week, the Dreamsicle Tincture didn’t work as well as I had hoped, in terms of helping me fall asleep. I ended up taking a chewable melatonin after my third night of taking the tincture. However, it did help me stay asleep but only up to four hours a night.
I must say the taste of the Dreamsicle Tincture is very nice and not bitter at all. This is great news for those who can’t handle the more bitter-tasting CBD tinctures out there.
CBD Rocky Mountain Chill 600mg Muscle Gel
I really liked the Rocky Mountain Chill Muscle Gel. It’s easy to apply to the skin, and it gives a nice cooling feeling. But it does have a bit of a sticky feeling after it dries on the skin. The smell is soothing and really helps take the edge off for a short while. I found myself reapplying the gel several times strictly for the cooling sensation.
CBD Liquid Softgels 25mg
The Liquid CBD Softgels were great. They helped me feel calm throughout the day without making me feel tired or groggy.
I also liked how easy it was to just swallow a softgel.
During my first week on Proper Canna Naturals, I experienced one panic attack. I immediately reached for the Dreamsicle Tincture and took only half a dropper of CBD. I waited for an hour, and though my panic attack never got out of hand like my first one (partly because I knew what I was going through and I was well hydrated), the Dreamsicle tincture didn’t take it away completely.
So, I took a CBD Softgel and found that it helped tremendously, and the effect faded completely within an hour and a half. Because most of my issues start with my digestion, I presume that ingesting CBD products tend to work better for me than taking sublingual products.
All in all, I found that out of the three products above, the Softgels worked best for me during my first week.
My second week on Proper Canna Naturals
My second week on Proper Canna Naturals I took the following products:
CBD Aloe Lavender Body Lotion 600mg
First let me just say that I absolutely love the Aloe Lavender Body Lotion. Once I started using this product, I didn’t want to stop. The smell is amazing and it left my skin feeling incredibly soft. I couldn’t get enough of this lotion. I also noticed that it helped keep my skin moisturized all throughout the week (I usually struggle with pretty dry skin, especially during the colder, drier months).
CBD Peppermint 600mg Tincture
At night, I took 1ml of Peppermint Full Spectrum Hemp Eextract, because I noticed that peppermint is very soothing on its own and I thought it would be great for helping me sleep. As luck would have it, this tincture was a lot more effective than the Dreamsicle for me.
It helped me stay asleep a little better than the Dreamsicle, and I found that I was able to sleep maybe 30 minutes to an hour longer each night (which is a win in my book).
CBD Natural 600mg Tincture
I only took 1ml of the Natural Full Spectrum Hemp Extract during the day, and I found that it kept me calm for the most part. But the taste is a lot more bitter than the other tinctures, which I’m ok with. It wasn’t as effective as the softgels for me, but I did feel calm.
During my second week on Proper Canna Naturals, I experienced two panic attacks. The first felt almost as severe as the one that sent me to the ER when it started. The second wasn’t nearly as severe, but still scary.
My first panic attack that week took place at night, so I took 1ml of the peppermint full spectrum hemp extract. I gradually felt calmer over a period of two hours, then I felt completely worn out. I definitely think it helped, but it took a while. Thankfully I knew what was happening this time, so another trip to the ER was out of the question (although it did cross my mind several times).
My second panic attack that week took place during the late afternoon, so I took 1ml of the natural full spectrum hemp extract. I feel it helped to some degree, as my panic attack was very short and less severe than the prior one.
My third week on Proper Canna Naturals
My third and final week on Proper Canna Naturals was actually Thanksgiving week. I took the following products:
I decided to take the Mojito Broad Spectrum Tincture at night to see if it would help me sleep. Unfortunately, it didn’t help any more than the peppermint full spectrum hemp extract.
I will say the flavor is just as soothing as the Peppermint Tincture and it did help me fall and stay asleep much better than the Dreamsicle Tincture. I found this odd, as the Dreamsicle Tincture is 1,800mg of full spectrum cannabinoids. But everyone responds differently to CBD products. Still, I really enjoyed the soothing taste of the Mojito Broad Spectrum Tincture.
I decided to take the Peppermint Full Spectrum Hemp Extract during the day and it definitely helped keep me calm. The peppermint is so soothing and I think that alone calms me. I didn’t hold it under my tongue for a full minute, because I find that I do better when I ingest CBD. I even put a few drops in my water, and found that it helped soothe my stomach cramps quite a bit.
I continued with the CBD Aloe Lavendar Lotion and as always, it helped keep my skin soft, moisturized, and looking healthy. The lotion may be my favorite Proper Canna Naturals product to this point, but I had one more product try.
Now, I was extremely excited to try the CBD Pain Relief Salve. The fact that it contains 500mg of full spectrum CBD had me super pumped, as I was having some aches and pains in my feet and hands (this sometimes happens when the weather’s cold).
I decided to rub some of the salve all over my hands and feet. In less than an hour, I felt much better. The pain didn’t fade completely, but it helped take the edge off. It also left my skin feeling soft and moisturized, so I’ll be using this product when I get the occasional ache.
My Beagle’s three-week experiment on Proper Canna Naturals
I was interested to see how my dog Scruffy would do after taking the 300mg Full Spectrum CBD Pet Tincture.
Each week he took the recommended dose of CBD based on his weight, which is 8 drops for 20 Lbs. Scruffy’s weight fluctuates between 20-23 Lbs.
Scruffy doesn’t suffer from any health issues, other than a low-grade heart murmur.
First week – I mixed the drops in Scruffy’s food and he ate it right up. I noticed he was a little sleepier throughout the day that first week.
Second week – Again I mixed the drops in his food, and he had no issue eating it up. Nothing really changed the second week. However, he did develop a small cold for a couple of days, so I mixed a couple of drops with some organic chicken bone broth and that helped him tremendously.
Third week – I really needed him to be calm, as we were seeing family for Thanksgiving (complete with kids and dogs). But the pet CBD didn’t seem to keep him any calmer. It did, however, seem to help him sleep, even during the noisiest parts of the evening.
Pros and Cons of Proper Canna Naturals
All things considered, my three-week experience with Proper Cannas Naturals was pretty good. Here are some overall pros and cons of my experiment…

Great tasting CBD tinctures
All of the CBD tinctures, except for the natural flavored one, tasted great. Especially the mojito lime / mint and the peppermint hemp extract. They were incredibly soothing and calming. The Dreamsicle was great, too.
Moisturizing salves and lotions
The pain relief salve and the CBD lotion were by far my favorite Proper Canna Naturals products. They left my skin soft and looking healthy, and I definitely felt relief from my pain.
Easy to dose softgels
The CBD softgels were very effective and super discreet. I love the glass jar they come in, and the fact that they each contain 25mg of CBD.
Mostly ineffective Dreamsicle CBD tincture
For some reason, the 1800mg Dreamsicle full spectrum tincture didn’t work for me like I hoped it would. The one benefit I noticed: It helped me stay for about four hours straight.
Sticky Rocky Mountain Chill 600mg Muscle Gel
While this muscle gel offered a nice cooling sensation, it left my skin feeling sticky and it didn’t relieve my aches and pains like the pain relief salve or CBD lotion. The smell was great, though.
Poorly effective Full Spectrum Pet CBD tincture
I loved the idea of trying this with my dog, but I have to say that it didn’t keep my beagle calm when I really needed it to. I’ve tried other pet CBD products and they have definitely kept him calm around other dogs and kids, but for some reason this product only made him sleepy instead.
Final thoughts
Despite the cons, I felt more at ease knowing that Proper Canna Naturals was close by, than if it wasn’t. Regardless of how ineffective some of the tinctures were, or how long it took for some of the products to actually take effect, I did feel better overall.
That said, I feel it’s worth mentioning that every person will respond differently to hemp-derived CBD. I find that ingesting CBD oil and softgels works much better for me, while some people do much better with sublingual products. And topical CBD is often great for people struggling with inflammation like arthritis and other joint aches and pains.
My advice for anyone who is considering trying CBD is to stay consistent, follow the dosing instructions, and pay attention (and even log) how you feel after you take them. Also, I highly recommend you only purchase CBD products that are from organically grown hemp, are third party tested, and are accurately labeled.
