Cannabidiol (CBD) is an active ingredient found in the Cannabis sativa plant, more commonly known as marijuana. Many consume CBD in different forms, such as tinctures, topical balms, coffee, and edibles. Due to its relaxing effects, CBD is popular among those who are looking for stress relief.

Because of its many uses, manufacturers created different products using CBD. One of those products is gummies. While most of them resemble your regular candies, eating a choice of gummies is the tastiest way of consuming CBD.

However, just because it looks like your run-of-the-mill gummy candy doesn’t mean you should finish off a pouch of CBD gummies in one go.

If you want to enjoy the most of your gummies like a pro, here are some tips you must practice first:

1. Practice Caution

Since CBD is a chemical that can influence your health, remember to be careful when consuming it. Granted, CBD isn’t as intense as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), with the latter having psychoactive properties that can make you high. However, just because CBD has more benign effects doesn’t mean you shouldn’t exercise caution when consuming it.

Consult a doctor to determine whether or not taking CBD is a good option. This is especially important if you’re consuming medication that might interact with CBD or have any underlying medical conditions. You should also be aware of CBD’s possible side effects, which include dry mouth, diarrhea, and changes in appetite.

Be mindful of when and where you are before eating CBD gummies, especially if you’re about to perform a delicate or important task. As mentioned, the user’s mental state relaxes after taking CBD. While the duration and the effects differ from one person to another, it’s best to eat small amounts of CBD gummies when you’re not set to do any intensive task.

2. Look For Quality

You must be selective about where you’ll purchase your CBD products. It’s best to choose retailers that have had their CBD gummies tested for safety and potency. Untested products can have other ingredients that may affect the safety of the edibles, so it’s best to be careful.

Aside from the quality of ingredients, you should also look for the amount of CBD in a product, usually listed in milligrams (mg). All gummy products possess different dosages. Therefore, you must pay attention to the dosage in a product more than its flavor or design.

CBD gummies usually have five to ten milligrams in one gummy, so you must be careful how many you end up consuming. Some claim that it takes time for the effects to kick in—approximately an hour or two after consuming. Therefore, be mindful of your condition the entire time.

4. Start Slowly

While tempting, downing clumps of CBD gummies like they’re your typical candy is unwise, especially for those new to CBD products. Considering it impacts your mental state, consuming too many gummies could lead to serious side effects, such as diarrhea, vomiting, slurred speech, and drowsiness. Since the most likely reason you’re eating CBD gummies is to relax, undergoing these effects could easily ruin your CBD experience.

That being said, it’s important to start with low dosages. For newbies, it’s best not to go over 30 milligrams in a day. Get yourself used to that potency for a few weeks since it may take that amount of time to experience the full effects of CBD gummies. Once you’re comfortable with the dosage, try adding one or two doses and examine how you feel.
