CBD Calculator for Dogs

Many dog owners are finding that several health conditions can be improved with the use of CBD.

The tricky part is finding how much CBD oil to give your furry friend.

CBD has taken the health industry by storm due to the numerous benefits it has to offer. But consuming CBD is not only limited to humans, but also dogs! That’s right, your furry friend can also benefit from taking CBD too.

Dog owners are finding that CBD has the ability to treat several health conditions. Early research shows that CBD can be used to treat pain, anxiety/stress, cancer, seizures, nausea and inflammation.

Unfortunately, giving your dog CBD isn't as easy as you might think. First you need to purchase pet-specific CBD from a reputable company. Then you need to find the right dosage for your dog. Finally, you'll want to try a various tactics to ensure your dog consumes the CBD properly.

Why is it so challenging to find the right dosage?

TINCTURES ARE NOT THE SAME

CBD Tinctures (a.k.a. CBD Oil) vary in size and potency. The size of a tincture is typically 15 mL to 30 mL. The potency can range from 50mg to 500mg of CBD. Since tinctures are not the same size and potency, it's hard to know how many droppers your dog needs.

WHAT'S YOUR DOG'S WEIGHT?

In order to find the proper dosage for your dog, it's essential to consider your dog's weight. The amount of CBD needed for a 10 lb. Chihuahua is significantly different from the English Mastiff in Sandlot.

How much CBD oil should I give my dog?

We've developed a comprehensive dosage calculator which will help you find two things.

  1. It will help you find the amount of milligrams of CBD for your dog based on his/her weight.
  2. It will tell you how many full droppers to give your dog to reach the recommended milligrams.

You will need to have the CBD tincture on-hand so you can enter the size and amount of CBD in the bottle. This will help to give the proper result.

It's important to note that the recommended amount may not be enough to receive the desired results. The calculator gives you the average amount of CBD for your dog.

If you have any questions about your result, you can ask our experts who are ready to help!

How do I get my dog to ingest the CBD oil?

Now that you've got the recommended dosage, you need to figure out the best way to get your dog to ingest the CBD oil. Most dogs aren't excited to consume substances other than treats. We've compiled a list of the most popular ways dog owners administer CBD oil.

  1. Drop the oil right into your dog's mouth (under the tongue if possible). This method might not be the easiest but it is the most effective because the CBD will be absorbed and enter the bloodstream quickly. We've also heard of dog owners that squirt the CBD under the dog's tongue, then giving them a treat right after.
  2. Add the CBD oil to dry dog food or treats. This method is the easiest because you can easily measure out the right dose and squirt it on the food or treats. Most dogs won't realize the difference when a small amount of CBD oil is added to the food or treats.
  3. Mix the CBD oil in wet dog food or treats. This method is also effective but we've found that some dogs will notice the oil and avoid the wet food or treats. If you plan to add CBD oil to wet dog food, you have to mix it thoroughly. If you don't, your dog might realize because the consistency will differ.

What other ways can dogs consume CBD?

If your dog refuses to consume CBD oil, the next best option is CBD infused treats or bites. We only give our dogs the highest quality products and therefore, we recommend the CBD Infused Treats from Petly. They must be tasty because our dogs gobble them right up. They're reasonably priced and you don't need to deal with the hassle of CBD oil.
